Programme of the conference

We are delighted to present the preliminary programme! You can find information regarding the planned keynotes, plenary sessions, workshops, symposia, study tours and other accompanying events under the programme section!

Chairs and Speakers

We are excited to announce the first confirmed speakers! We are very proud to be honoured by a broad variety of speakers who will share their expert knowledge with you throughout the conference. Get to know the speakers and their fields of expertise here.

Study tours

Local insights and new ideas: guided study tours are available for all interested visitors and aim to connect the conference’s themes culturally and historically with its host city in the heart of Europe, Berlin, for its 25th anniversary. You can get to know the city of Berlin from different perspectives – and at the centre of every study tour lies the overarching theme: “Changing migration, migration in change”.

Pre-conference process

Exchanging experience and knowledge is the focus of conference preparation right from the start. During a pre-conference process, a total of four pre-working groups develop the conference content on the chosen themes. The work process can be accompanied by all interested parties through open webinars and transparent work results.

About us

The 25th International Metropolis Conference is being organised by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in cooperation with Metropolis International.

  • Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs

Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) is the German government department responsible for labour market policy, employment law and occupational health and safety. Central challenges include fighting unemployment and ensuring the pensions system is stable. Issues surrounding migration and integration are also part of the work of BMAS: the labour market plays a decisive role in making integration a success.

  • Metropolis International

Metropolis International is the world’s largest international network for sharing knowledge on a wide range of migration, integration, inclusion and diversity issues. The goal of Metropolis International, and its International Metropolis Conferences that take place regularly, is to foster collaboration between researchers, policy-makers, civil society and business leaders, in order to address current and future challenges in a sustainable and cross-sectoral manner.
