Sumi Somaskanda

Sumi Somaskanda is a news anchor, reporter, and moderator. She lived and worked in Berlin for 14 years before taking on her current post as Washington correspondent for DW News. Sumi also reports on Germany for various international publications. She was an editor at Berlin Policy Journal, Germany’s first English-language foreign-policy magazine, and hosted a current affairs podcast for Germany’s former NPR network, KCRW Berlin. She regularly moderates panel discussions and conferences both in Germany and the United States. In addition to her native language, English, she speaks German and Spanish and is proficient in Tamil.

Within the framework of the IMCB22, she is the overall presenter of the conference as well as the chair of plenary 2 “Global Crises - Local Responsibilities” and the High-level forum.
